On Saturday, June 11, I attended the Blues, Brews & Barbecue festival here in Downtown Allentown, and it was a blast! I couldn’t get over how cool the music and vendor booths were. The food, musicians and local craft beers were nothing short of phenomenal this year. In my humble opinion, it’s the best street fair in the area.
But don’t just take my word for it. The Morning Call, also thought it was bigger, bolder and better than ever, too. Organizers were hoping to top last year’s estimated crowd of 10,000 people, and they will not be surprised at all if the final numbers say that they did. Downtown Allentown has become more than just a place of employment for over 12,000 people come to work during the workweek, it’s a place where people come to for entertainment and good times too.
The Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce coordinates the festival through its Hamilton District Main Street program, and three blocks of Hamilton Street were closed to traffic to accommodate the crowds of festival-goers.
